Howard F. Appelt, II, received his law degree from New England School of Law, Boston, Massachusetts, where he graduated Cum Laude. He received his undergraduate degree from Seton Hall University. Mr. Appelt served as Morris County's first full-time County Counsel (1991-1993). As County Counsel, he was the chief legal officer for the county government. Mr. Appelt continues to represent the County of Morris as Special Counsel. Mr. Appelt holds the designation of Diplomate in Municipal Law from Rutgers University. He is a member of the New Jersey Bar Association, Morris County Bar Association, and Morris County Chamber of Commerce. He has served as municipal attorney for the Borough of Riverdale and municipal prosecutor for the Township of West Milford and the boroughs of Butler and Riverdale. He also serves as a legislative aide to members of the New Jersey State Legislature. He was a candidate for the New Jersey Legislature in 1993. Mr. Appelt was appointed to serve on the Governor's Juvenile Justice Commission of the State of New Jersey and is a member of the Morris County Youth Services Advisory Council. His areas of expertise are civil and criminal litigation, public entity law, and administrative law. Mr. Appelt manages the firm's representation of two large pooled insurance groups of public entities for defense of compensation claims. He is licensed to practice before the New Jersey Supreme Court and Federal District Court for the District of New Jersey.
